One of only 12 Trappist breweries in the world, and the first in the UK. The monks use the most time honoured and traditional techniques, passed down from their brothers from Belgium, but use exclusively British malt, hops and yeast to create a truly unique beer. Started in 2017 to help sustain the monks, with all proceeds from the sale funding the upkeep of the monastery or going to charity
Pours deep Mahogany with a thick cream coloured head. Light chocolate, liquorice and dark dried fruits on the nose lead to a a perfectly balanced full bodied flavour you would expect of the style. Figs and sweet chocolate initially on the palate, with a lightly spiced, peppery flavour humming in the background. Creamy mouthfeel and subtle carbonation leave a slightly dry finish in the mouth from the British grown hops. You are left with a gentle warmth from the alcohol.
